I also experienced eating fried catfish. It tasted just like tilapia.
I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever experience a normal day at this school, especially middle school. We had more fights, students swearing at teachers and calling them outrageous names, and me playing school counselor for a 6th grade class. Friday we had the students march in chanting "We want good food" Their food is seriously so disgusting, and they used to have good, local food. But because of the new laws, the food is really gross. #thanksmichelleobama
I also passed a really neat church on the way to the capitol building. There are a lot of different churches here and they're all really pretty.
I guess there was a Mardi Gras dance going on Saturday night-hence all the crazy dressed people. We saw people dressed in flapper costumes, bright colored suits and dresses, and nintendo characters.
Later that night I decided to go try beignets. I had no idea what they were, but everyone was telling me that they were delicious. When I looked them up I finally realized they're the food that Tiana in Princess and the Frog makes!
They are covered in powdered sugar. It was such a mess after I was done eating. They're a lot like funnel fries only better! Good thing they are so cheap, they may become a regular thing.
Today I missed church because I didn't know they were having a fireside with Elder Cook at the stake center. After trying to make it an hour late and having nowhere to park, I decided to go back to LSU since that's where my singles ward building is at to look at things. LSU has a tiger. I'm dead serious. LSU has a live tiger. He lives in a habitat outside next to the basketball stadium and across the street from the football stadium. Meet Mike!
He was a little sleepy. It's been raining on and off today and it's gotten a little humid. I'll have to go visit him again when he's up and going.
Here is the basketball stadium and the football stadium. In a week and a few days I'll be going to the stadium to watch LSU take on UK. I can't wait!
They also have an "Old Main" and a decent sized quad. Their Old Main is a bell tower with an enormous clock. We hear it quite often in the morning. It made it feel a little like home.
They're also surrounded by a lake. It's really pretty.
Hopefully soon I'll be able to go back to campus to take pictures of the different buildings. The weather has been really rainy all day. But these people are serious about their LSU.
